According to Government statistics, 659,220 people
were made redundant in the UK between September
2003 and August 2004 - the equivalent of 2,535
people every working day.
In 2003 290,607 people were killed or injured
on UK roads. Of these, 3,508 were fatalities.
More than 12,000 people are killed in accidents
each year and an estimated 6 million people receive
treatment for accidental injuries at hospital
