Motor industry 'rising to the environmental challenges'
05/02/2012
In recent years the car industry has made great steps in terms of rising to the challenges presented by environmental concerns.
This is according to managing editor of Fleet World magazine Ross Durkin, who described the improving trends as "unbelievable".
He specified the reduction of emissions and improvements in carbon consumption are particularly commendable.
Shifts in the general attitude to electric vehicles were also welcomed, with the expert noting some mis-held beliefs over the options are being dispelled and fewer people are dismissing them out of hand.
"With increasingly punitive taxation of fleets running higher-emitting vehicles, fleet managers must get up to speed now with the latest technology, or risk leading their business down the path of higher taxation," Mr Durkin commented.
Individuals looking for environmentally-friendly motors may welcome a recent announcement from manufacturer Seat that it is currently working on new hybrid and electric models to be released by 2015.
