A road safety boss is behind a proposal to cut the amount of alcohol that can be consumed before drivers take to the road to zero, it has been reported.
Councillor Richard Hobbs has remarked that a call to cut drink-driving among those new to the road would be beneficial, according to the Coventry Telegraph.
This follows on from a call by Sir Liam Donaldson for motorists between the ages of 17 and 20 to be completely disallowed from drinking before travelling.
Car credit customers could find that such a move reduces accident frequency and as such sees cover firms reduce the cost of car insurance.
According to councillor Hobbs, inexperience, exuberance and alcohol can be a deadly combination.
"If cutting the alcohol limit to zero can cut the terrible waste of young lives lost on the road, then the county council will back it to the hilt," he said.
