Drivers have been advised to take a break from travelling if they become tired behind the wheel of their vehicle.
The warning has been made by GEM Motoring Assist, which pointed to statistics showing that one in five accidents takes place due to fatigue among motorists.
It could be that car credit customers who take to the road when they feel tired risk invalidating their car insurance policies.
GEM chief executive David Williams remarked that people need to be more aware of the dangers they face if they drive fatigued.
"Making sure we are alert and as fresh as possible - especially on long journeys, such as returning from holidays - is a critical element of road safety," the official remarked.
This comes as Department for Transport statistics show that there were some 2,943 deaths recorded on roads in the UK during 2007.
