The volume of new cars sold by Volvo in 2008 increased by nearly 11 per cent, the manufacturer said this week.
Reaching a total of 33,358, the number of drivers taking home a new car from the brand rose by 10.98 per cent.
Volvo, citing figures released by the Society of Motor Traders and Manufacturers, said it had bucked the trend experienced by some other companies in the industry.
Its market share also increased to 1.56 per cent from 1.25 in 2007.
Volvo Car UK sales director Nick Connor attributed the results to realigned trim levels and price.
"[These] gave our model range an additional edge in 2008," he added. "The introduction of the R-Design package on C30, S40 and V50 models has also played a major role in attracting new customers to the brand."
Meanwhile, earlier this week the company unveiled its S60 Concept car at the Detroit Auto Show.
It is said to be a taste of what drivers can expect from the vehicle when it is released in 2010.
