Vehicle value 'can be slashed by lighting up'

If drivers want to get the most for their vehicle at auction, they should ensure that the automobile is not hampered by the hallmarks of a smoker, it has been claimed.

Car credit customers could find British Car Auctions' analysis, that their chances of selling a model are dashed should their car contain cigarette stains or the lingering smell of smoke, essential.

This comes as the latest edition of the Highway Code states that drivers can be pulled over by police for smoking if they are believed to be travelling hazardously.

BCA PR manager Tim Naylor stated that employers need to make sure their workers are not lighting up on the job.

"This will avoid the lingering smell of cigarettes hanging in the interior as well as eliminate the risk of discolouring and leaving scorch marks on the interior trim or upholstery," said the official.ADNFCR-1597-ID-18706366-ADNFCR
