For drivers looking to secure the right car loans deal, an article in the Telegraph may prove to be of interest.
In a recent entry in the newspaper's motoring section, Mike Rutherford suggests by considering "£2,500 steps" there is a formula to working out how much car finance one may need.
He notes that first-time buyers looking for "a used but perfectly usable hatchback" could look to pay around £2,500 to purchase a bargain used small car and adds that Ford's Ka is a good example model.
For an extra £5,000, he suggests the new car market opens up - with an overall £7,500 car loan leaving shoppers "spoiled for choice" and £10,000 worth of car finance allowing for something a little larger.
"For £10,000 you can get good quality, mid-sized hatchbacks such as the Citroen C4 and Ford Focus," he said. "I've always worked on the basis that £12,500 is needed to secure a quality family saloon or hatchback."
Auto Express reported that an increased focus on environmental and economic issues had seen more people consider diesel when shopping for a new or used car.
