Subaru is expected to unveil its new electric-powered vehicle at the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit.
Reuters reports that the manufacturer is supplying five of its Stella prototype for use at the event, of which four are to be used by delegates and officials.
The electric version of the five-door Stella makes use of the technology previously featured in the company's R1e concept car, which only had two seats, the news provider notes.
It is thought that Subaru is aiming to use the prototype to test demand for electric cars in Japan in its ongoing development of eco-friendly vehicles.
Although car finance customers aren't able to get their hands on the new car yet, they can purchase the new Impreza, which recently won an award.
Subaru's 2.5-litre turbocharged 'boxer' engine was recently presented with the International Engine of the Year Award.
The engine, which features in the Impreza 2.5 WRX and WRX STI models, was ranked highest in both the 2.0 and 2.5 litre categories.
