Car manufacturer Skoda has announced its sales results for the first quarter of 2008.
Sales over the last three months amounted to a total of 173,474 vehicles, an increase of 15.7 per cent on last year's first quarter figures.
The launch of the new Fabia Estate has contributed to this increase with sales amounting to 19,500 vehicles since January. Total sales of the Fabia range are up 8.5 per cent to 63,579 vehicles sold in a like-for-like comparison to 2007.
There has been particular growth in the Chinese and eastern European markets for the company in the first 12 weeks of 2008, with nearly 71,000 vehicles sold – representing an increase of 38.6 per cent.
Skoda recently unveiled ten new models at the Beijing Motor Show. These included the new Fabia Greenline and Octavia RS. The Greenline was particularly noted for its low CO2 emissions and commitment to being more environmentally friendly.
