Road safety measures called for by residents

People in Burton have called for greater road safety measures to be implemented in the area, according to a local news source.

The Burton Mail has stated that over 200 people living on Donisthorpe Lane in Moira and Atherstone Road in Measham have put their names to a road safety petition.

Car credit customers could be interested to know that greater safety on highways in the area may result in cheaper car insurance policies.

This is because some cover firms may judge the region to be safer and as a result reduce the price of a policy.

"We at least need signs reminding drivers of the 30mph speed limit because there have been so many accidents and near-misses," commented a local resident, who wished not to reveal their name.

Meanwhile, figures from the Department for Transport show that some 2,943 people were killed on UK roads in 2007.ADNFCR-1597-ID-18693520-ADNFCR
