Motorists looking to take out car finance for a vehicle that can save them money at the pump may want to pay a visit to their local Peugeot dealership.
The manufacturer has reported two drivers in its 308 SE HDi 110 model have driven the length and breadth of the UK trying to keep diesel consumption to a minimum.
It revealed the couple – nicknamed the fuel fugitives - achieved average economy of 126.8 mpg, with the feat being verified by Guinness World Records.
The company also pointed out the 308 is not the best model it offers when it comes to minimising diesel or petrol use.
Fleet sales director Phil Robson commented: "We've been telling customers that our low-CO2 ... vehicles are ... very economical and fuel-efficient, but I have to say even I am very impressed by this achievement."
Meanwhile, car finance customers may want to check out the new Peugeot 207 range due out next month.
