A car stereo manufacturer claims its new radio "solves the problem" of driving whilst using a mobile phone.
Blaupunkt's new Hamburg MP68 is being touted as the solution to dangerous driving while operating a mobile phone behind the wheel.
And the company claims motorists could avoid a heavy fine and penalty points on their licence with the Bluetooth-enabled stereo.
The radio and mobile phone are linked as soon as the stereo is switched on and car loan customers can use the most basic functions on their phone with the radio's numeric keypad.
Today a call for motorists involved in serious death by dangerous driving cases to be jailed for at least seven years was made by the Sentencing Guidelines Council (SGC).
The SGC said that the seven year penalty should apply to drivers who cause a death while reading or writing text messages on a mobile phone.
Deaths caused by "momentary inattention" should be dealt with less harshly, the SGC recommended.
