Luxury car manufacturer Lancia has announced that it will launch a new car that will aim to rival BMW's popular Mini, it has emerged.
According to an article for Auto Express the Italian manufacturer is ready to go head-to-head with the Germans as well as taking on a number of other high profile models such as the new Alfa Romeo MiTo and the well received Fiat 500.
Named the Ypsilon, it is thought that the new car will make its debut at an upcoming motor show before being made available to the general public, which may be of interest to car finance customers looking for a small car.
The magazine reports that Lancia are expected to release a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol model, and two diesel versions thought to come equipped with 1.3 and 1.9-litre oil burning engines.
A distinctive chrome trim and two-tone paintwork will be among the design features it is hoped will allow the Ypsilon to stand out from its rivals, although car loans customers are advised the Ypsilon will belikely to follow Lancia's reputation for luxury.
At this year's Geneva Motor Show, Lancia unveiled a new version of its Delta sedan, the Associated Press reports.
