Police officers in the Cotswolds have had to remind motorists to wear their seat belts whenever they take to the road, a local news source has reported.
Car credit customers in the area may be interested to hear that the Cotswold Journal has stated that officials in the region recently raised the issue at a residents' meeting.
It could be that those who heed this call save on their car insurance policies as well as protect themselves in a collision.
Police Constable Gary Brewer told the news source that a lack of safety precautions is behind lots of crashes in the area.
"An alarming number of people [are] not wearing a seat belt ... Most of the fatal road traffic accidents I go to are caused by people not wearing seat belts," he said.
The first law making it illegal to drive without a seatbelt was introduced in 1982.
