Car credit customers may want to reconsider their journeys should flash floods hit the UK this summer.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has commented that heavy rain over the last few months could result in an increased flood risk for motorists.
It added that this may increase the cost of car insurance policies for people whose vehicles are damaged in such conditions, as they could be forced to make a claim.
According to IAM, it is a good idea to seek an alternative route if flooding is a possibility, while drivers should also look to travel on the highest sections of road when they can.
In addition, they should not take their foot off the accelerator when in water, the group commented, as it could result in liquid shooting up the exhaust.
Meanwhile, heavy flooding has been reported in Scotland in the Renfrewshire and Lanarkshire areas.
