The number of drivers seeking car finance to secure a diesel powered vehicle could rise as a recent survey has found that more people are looking for a more economical car.
According to an article for Auto Express, the popularity of diesel at petrol stations is leading some experts to suggest the industry will need to make more pumps available on the forecourts.
Citing research from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the magazine states that in 2007, 25.5 billion litres of diesel was sold in the UK - in comparison to the 24 billion litres of petrol sold.
Commenting on the research, Ray Holloway of the Petrol Retailers Association agreed, stating that petrol stations were no longer reflecting the public shift towards diesel, adding he was "confident" this would soon change.
"The ratio of diesel to petrol pumps no longer reflects the sale of the fuels … but the huge investment required to install additional underground tanks is putting retailers off at present," he said.
New and used car loans customers could find that by opting for an oil-burning vehicle they could save more money on fuel.
