Money advice offered on motor insurance costs

Once a car loan has been obtained, drivers still face paying for a car insurance policy and a new article for moneyhighstreet.com has advised on the cheapest way to do this.

The site suggests that car insurance premiums can be reduced easily if they carefully select the right vehicle in the first place - starting with how powerful the engine is on the car they are considering.

It is noted that vehicles with bigger engines can often be costly to maintain or repair and notes that by considering how a car performs under the criteria of an insurance provider, car finance customers can reduce the price of their premium.

"The rating of a new or used car depends mostly on the engine size and weight of the car as well as the cost of replacement parts and the probability of theft," the website notes.

Living in a high risk area can also be damaging to an auto insurance policy, it is suggested, but investing in alarms, immobilisers and trackers can be a great way to reduce the premium and drivers can contact insurers to see which of these are the most valuable.

An article for the Observer last week advised motorists to check their car insurance cover before taking their vehicle abroad.
