Mazda has won the Best Carmaker award at the second annual Which? Awards, in London.
The Japanese carmaker beat last year's winner Toyota to the top spot in last week's ceremony at the British Museum.
Runners up included Audi, BMW, Honda and Lexus.
Mazda's managing director Rob Lindley accepted the accolade from former formula one driver Sir Stirling Moss, who was placed poll position in a new book by Alan Henry called The Top 100 F1 Drivers of All Time.
He said: "Winning this influential accolade is testimony to the achievements of the entire Mazda team - from designers and product developers to dealers and service personnel."
Mazda was praised for its blend of value for money, reliability and innovation and its MX-5 was touted as the cheapest way into the sports car market.
Mazda achieved record sales last year and has extended the range of models it has on the market.
