Most motorists in Manchester find themselves in ten minutes' worth of traffic jams every day, according to new research.
Statistics from an online survey conducted by onepoll.com has found that seven out of ten motorists suffer such a fate once per day.
Car credit customers could find the stopping and starting particularly stressful if they are involved in an accident and invalidate their motor insurance policies.
Lord Peter Smith, Wigan council leader and chairman of the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities, cited traffic as one of the city's great concerns.
"Businesses can only benefit if all the people who are arriving late for work each week as a result of congestion get there on time," he said.
Meanwhile, research conducted by price comparison site uSwitch.com has stated that some £75 billion is being paid by motorists just to cover the cost of driving.
