An all-new Jaguar has been proven as the brand's fastest car yet, it was revealed today.
The US state of Utah was the setting for a secret speed test, where the XFR prototype, which is powered by an AJ-V8 GEN III engine, reached 225.675 mph.
It was driven by Paul Gentilozzi, who now owns Rocketsports Racing but previously won the Trans Am series five times as leader of the Jaguar XKR team.
He said: "I have been privileged to drive and own so many exciting cars but I've never driven one that was as exciting to drive fast as this Jaguar."
The car beat Jaguar's previous speed record which was set in 1992 when the XJ220 reached 217.1 mph.
Meanwhile, the brand announced last week that it experienced a "sales boost" in 2008.
Jaguar ended the year having sold over 65,000 cars, which was eight per cent more than the previous year.
Managing director Mike O'Driscoll attributed this to the vehicles' ability to provide beautiful yet fast and modern technology to consumers.
