A new form of technology is currently being trialled that could see hybrid power being added to a new car as an optional extra, according to reports.
According to an article for Auto Express, vehicle and auto product experts at MIRA have been conducting a range of tests on a new plug-in hybrid attachment - which the magazine suggests could be an answer for car loans customers with environmental concerns.
The new unit, dubbed the H4V, is expected to add an extra £2,000 to a driver's car finance package, but for this price will boost fuel economy by up to 61 per cent as well as cut CO2 emissions by around 39 per cent.
One spokesperson for MIRA told the magazine: "One manufacturer is already interested in adding the hybrid system to its range," adding that the system had been tested on a Skoda Fabia.
Motorpoint recently conducted a survey that noted around three in four drivers would spend their car loans on a new vehicle that came equipped with stop-start technology that improves fuel economy by cutting engine use when the car is not moving.
