Car loans customers may be interested to know that BMW has been honoured for its eco-friendly credentials at the World Car Awards, it has emerged.
The manufacturer was awarded the title of 2008 World Green Car for its 118d model which uses Efficient Dynamics to cut its CO2 emissions levels and attain the best level of fuel economy, according to nationalpost.com.
Commenting on the accolade, chairman and chief executive officer of BMW's North American division, Tom Purves, said the company had been pleased with the results of its Efficient Dynamics technology and welcomed the acknowledgement.
"The measures that we've implemented within our Efficient Dynamics strategy … mean that we're able to provide customers with the driving pleasure they expect from a BMW while still meeting the stringent requirements for fuel efficiency," he said.
The Mazda2, also known as the Demio, was awarded the title of World Car of the Year and Audi's R8 picked up the World Performance Car award.
Auto Trader reports this week that the Audi R8 "dominated" the event, also picking up the award for best design.
