Sales are up at Ford, meaning car loans and car finance products for the brand may have increased in popularity.
A total of 22,128 new Fords were registered last month, taking a 15.7 per cent share of the market and marking a five per cent improvement on the numbers recorded for January 2009.
The Fiesta and Focus were the best sellers during the month, with continuing scrappage deals and VAT discounts helping to boost purchases, the manufacturer said.
In fact, some 38,500 extra orders have been made for the company's vehicles since the start of the cash-for-bangers scheme.
Ford Britain managing director Nigel Sharp remarked that despite the economic downturn, the brand has what it takes to maintain "strong sales momentum".
"We have further enhanced Ford's offer by paying this year's VAT rise and look forward to new Ford S-MAX and Galaxy models on sale this spring."
The scrappage scheme is due to finish at the end of March or when the funding runs out - whichever is sooner.
