Fiat is celebrating the first birthday of one of its popular models this week – the Fiat 500.
The car was first made available to motorists in Italy on July 4th last year, before coming to these shores in January 2008.
According to the firm, the car’s birthday is of particular significance as it is 50 years to the day since the Dante Giacosa-designed 500 was launched after the war.
To mark the occasion, Fiat is hosting parties around the world – including one hosted by TV presenter Alex Zane in the UK.
Andrew Humberstone, managing director of Fiat Group Automobiles UK, said the British arm of the firm was “delighted” to be participating in the event.
"It is everything that the new Fiat 500 stands for - fun, excitement, freedom and the knack of bringing people together in a great atmosphere - and I am sure the event will be a great success," he remarked.
