A new study has found that a new form of technology that is so far underrepresented in the market would be of interest to motorists - including those with car finance.
Stop-start systems, which cut the use of the vehicle's engine when it is stuck in traffic - allowing it to be restarted on depression of the clutch, would be of interest to three out of four people in the market for a new or used car.
However, according to Motorpoint - the company that conducted the research - the systems are somewhat underrepresented in the new and used car market, with only Mini, BMW and Citroen incorporating it into their cars.
It is estimated that using the stop-start function can cut fuel use by up to eight per cent and according to Motorpoint operations director Paul Winfield, it is strange that more manufacturer's do not offer it.
"In these days of increasing fuel prices and demands for lower CO2 emissions, its surprising that this tried and tested technology isn't already more widespread This survey shows an overwhelming vote in favour of stop-start technology," he said.
BMW also applies its innovative Efficient Dynamics fuel-efficiency system to its 118d model.
