Motorists who may recently have acquired car finance may be interested to learn that there is a simple way to keep their new or used car energy-efficient.
Following advice earlier this week that suggested the right level of tyre pressure and a well maintained engine is key to cutting fuel consumption, one expert has noted that acceleration is perhaps the "greatest factor" to consider.
Philip Reed, consumer advice editor for Edmunds.com, said slowing down is a good way to keep eco-friendly without having to worry about further expense, the Los Angeles Times reports.
"Driving faster won't get you there any quicker," he told the newspaper. "Eventually you'll run into a red light and lose the ground you've gained. It's amazing the difference slowing down makes."
Cutting the weight of the vehicle by getting rid of unwanted clutter was also noted by the newspaper as a simple thing to do which will "lighten your load and improve your fuel economy".
