Used car loan customers may be among those benefiting from a reduction in traffic congestion, with jams declining since last year.
This is according to figures produced by Trafficmaster and the RAC Foundation, which suggest that economic conditions are causing some drivers to stay off the road.
The recently-published Trafficmaster/RAC Foundation Journey Time Index suggested that overall congestion across the UK's major roads was 12 per cent less in the period between January and June this year than it was over the same six-month period in 2007.
Commenting on the findings, Georgina Read at Trafficmaster said: "The upshot of less traffic is a drop in congestion levels, meaning motorists can get from A to B quicker while travelling at lower and more economical speeds."
Meanwhile, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders recently announced that 131,079 vehicles came off production lines around Britain during July this year.
