Car loan customers could save a packet after they drive their new vehicle off the forecourt by following some simple moneysaving tips.
According to the AA, the average price of petrol is 118.2p per litre and diesel is at 131.6p per litre up nearly seven and a half pence in June.
But the Institute for Advanced Motorists (IAM) has a range of techniques to help motorists cut their fuel bill.
Route planning, obeying speed limits and checking tyre pressure all make the list of fuel saving techniques.
According to the IAM driving at 56mph uses 25 per cent less fuel than driving at 70mph and having a car regularly serviced could missing word? the amount of fuel it uses by ten per cent.
Removing unused roof racks and driving with the windows down increases wind resistance and can boost fuel bills.
But top of the list of fuel saving tips is cut out unnecessary journeys. On a short journey the engine is running cold and produces 60 per cent more pollution than a warm engine.
