The number of people taking out car loans for electric vehicles could be set to rise after the government threw its support behind the industry.
A range of futuristic electric models were invited to Downing Street this week, including the TH!NK city.
The cars' visit coincided with a government meeting to plan an acceleration of the mass production of electric vehicles.
Motorists in Norway can already purchase the TH!NK city and it is due to hit roads in the UK next year.
The body of the vehicle is made of recyclable plastic and the manufacturer claims it is designed to be scratch and dent resistant.
Offering zero emissions and silent running, the model could also help drivers save money as it is exempt from road tax and the London congestion charge.
With a fully charged battery, the car can travel more than 112 miles and it has a top speed of 65 mph.
The model was unveiled in theUK at this year's British International Motor Show.
