There are a number of things drivers who may recently have secured a car loan can do to ensure their vehicles run more efficiently, it has been suggested.
According to Jennifer Derrick of savingadvice.com, a number of people are considering trading in their older gas guzzlers for a more economical model and adds that this can be advisable if your car is particularly wasteful.
She notes that the rise of fuel prices has been well documented and adds that there are a number of other things people can do to save money at the pump.
"Slowing down is a great fuel saver," she states. "Most cars get their best MPG around 60 MPH on the highway. As you go above that, your fuel economy drops rapidly."
Also noted is keeping a well maintained car and regularly checking air pressure in the tyres as well as keeping oil and filters clean.
Last week, the Irish Independent praised the recent What Car? diesel awards as they represented "a far better reflection of a car's real worth to a buyer" by considering fuel economy.
