Buyers buck credit crunch trend

Despite prevailing economic conditions, new research has suggested that people continue to look for new cars.

According to a survey by Exchange & Mart, 65 per cent of the 1,000 used car buyers it questioned said they were aiming to purchase a car in the next six months.

Debra Healy, digital director at the firm, said many of those who said they were looking to buy a car claimed they were hoping to do so within the next three months.

"Interestingly, the remaining 35 per cent of people surveyed said they were considering making a purchase, but not necessarily planning on buying within the next six months," Ms Healy remarked.

The report indicates that that amount of time people take to research buying a car could be "longer than dealers may think", she added.

In related news, Mazda UK recently announced that the firm had experienced its "best ever May".

According to the firm, it recorded 3,969 sales in May beating the previous record of 3,956 set in 2004.ADNFCR-1597-ID-18673031-ADNFCR
