Car finance customers looking to reduce the cost of their motor insurance have been advised to do their homework in advance.
According to the Telegraph, many people may seek out new cars unaware of some how much money they could save by heeding recent advice from car insurance group esure.
It is reported that esure believe buyers are not doing enough research in advance of shopping for a new car and 46 per cent do not look into the amount they could be paying for cover before making their purchase.
Mike Pickard, a spokesman for the firm, said: "It's crucial for all motorists looking to buy [a new car] to do their homework, shop around for the best deals and be both confident and clued up in front of a salesperson - or pay the price."
It was also noted that despite car loans customers spending a great deal of time deciding which make and model they want, around 30 per cent give under an hour considering the financial aspects.
Andrew Hagger of Moneyfacts told the Mirror this week that consumers should not take the first forecourt finance deal on offer to them and should consider shopping around online.
