Female drivers consider the financial implications of a new purchase more than males, according to research.
Statistics released by Experian show that women will work out every aspect of buying while men are driven by emotion.
Male car credit customers may find this to be a problem, as it could be that they bite off more than they can chew when it comes to high car insurance policy costs.
Experian's automotive division managing director Kirk Fletcher stated that "it is important for women to protect themselves" when buying.
"Buying a car can be an emotional process, especially if the car buyer has gone through a lot just to find the right one," said the official.
Recent research from moneysupermarket.com found that male drivers new to the road often pay £1,200 more for car insurance than women.
